About

Sustainable urban living becomes more important as the world's population continues to grow, and the earth's resources are exponentially being depleted. As a Westerner, with a diversified background in many interests, I am consistently seeking ways in which cities can be more liveable. How could this be achieved, especially considering the undeniable structure of most cities, which have developed over years, decades, or even centuries. The evolution of the city moves according to societal pressures and needs, carving out the structure of urban areas for better or for worse. My background is varied, lending to my desire to connect the many-faceted realm of the city in ways that create an integrated analysis of the urban landscape. I graduated with a bachelor's degree from UCSC (Santa Cruz) in Urban Policy and Planning, under the Environmental Studies department. I then went on to gain a second Bachelor's in Sculpture and Conceptual Information Arts (CIA) at San Francisco State University, in California. I also run my own landscaping business doing small design jobs, as well as irrigation installation and maintenance. I have interned at Leonardo ISAST - An art journal covering arts in technology - And have also worked with professors at San Francisco State University on Monument Recall - an exhibition looking at the idea of the monument and what it means. What is important to me? 1.Ways to make cities function better in these areas: Transportation, Safety, Air quality- 2.Energy: Creating an impetus for utilizing renewable sources, such as solar and wind- 3.Rescources: Finding ways in which the urban areas can provide for themselves, Gray water systems for irrigation, Roof-top gardens- 4.Ways to separate car travel from foot and bike traffic: Bikeways, raised side walks, Fewer vehicles, Ways to get service vehicles in and out easily- 5.Social/Cultural : A place where Art/Music/Performance can take place, humanizing the urban landscape.- 6.Architecture: Buildings that exhibit an identity and creative spirit, Green building innovation- 7.Open Space: Safe parks for children, dog walks, picnics etc.
