Hi All,
It's great to see us all respond as a community to this kind of behavior. It was very inspiring to see that with 24 hours we were able to identify this as a scam and post these comments on this page to warn others about it. Yeah, "scam"--and a rather illiterate one at that--jumped out at me both times I received the email, despite the 'loving and caring' approach. I didn't even make the connection that there might actually be a profile to go along with the email, since it came through regular email instead of the internal WE email. The lack of substance in the profile supports the notion that it is a scam. Plus, the text is the same, he/she/it/they ask[s] for money.... Oh, well. We're gonna leave this user account page up for a day before de-activating, just so users can come and see the comments posted about this particular account. I've talked to our system administrator, and we've seen that this hoax has been carried out on another social networking site. I guess it's just part of the internet experience. ;)

Hi guys - I'm sure this is spam, and I hate to see it carried over into the rest of the community. We will be de-activating this account, though I wouldn't be surprised to see this pop up more often. We'll look into implementing security controls in some form that will redress this situation.

Hello Angel, I would also like to respond to say hello. I couldn't see what your interests were either. It would be great if you could write a bit more. Love is also important for me - as I work out what it is and how to give it. I am interested in Community Cultural Development and creating empowerment for people through access to the arts. I am in Melbourne, looking for work in that area and looking for more people in the field. And yourself? What are the consequences of your love and caring? I recently found out that I was shy and have consquently been involved in making social gatherings more interactive so that everyone has a chance to get to know people by doing things together! New revelation for me.

I learned that you're based in NY, you're a student(of?) and lovng and caring is your primary focus (ditto, ditto).
