Alan Holt is the Director of the Conservation Leverage Group, a small team recently established to help build leveraged strategies and knowledge-sharing capabilities in The Nature Conservancy, a global non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation of biological diversity. From 1998 through 2007, Alan helped direct the Conservancy’s conservation strategies in Alaska, Canada, Washington, Oregon, California and Hawaii as regional conservation advisor. From 1982 until 1999, Alan directed the design and management of The Nature Conservancy’s Hawaii conservation programs. He earned his Masters in Botany from the University of Hawaii and worked as a field biologist for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and National Park Service before joining the Conservancy. He has been involved in strategic planning for the larger Conservancy organization and international conservation programs. Alan’s expertise includes conservation area planning and management, alien species control strategies, public relations and communications on conservation issues, and promotion of effective partnerships with landowners and government agencies.
