About
I was thrilled to work at WiserEarth as a Social Media Volunteer during the summer of 2009 through a Leadership Development Program rotation. I'm eager to continue learning about social media, and have been working on a team researching government use of Web 2.0.
I have worked for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Regional Office in San Francisco on Resource Conservation and Green Building for 10 years. Two of my favorite recent projects at EPA are -
- The Lifecycle Building Challenge - an innovative green building competition for students and professionals focused front-end design for adaptability and disassembly.
- The West Coast Climate Fourm - Western government leaders exploring the tremendous potential of waste prevention, reuse, recycling, and composting to reduce greenhouse gas emissions
I am amazed by the global collaboration happening on WiserEarth, and by the connections and actions that kindness, creativity and technology make possible.
These are a few of my favorite things: nature, deconstruction, zero waste, wombats, Qoo, artichokes, watermelon, craftiness, and puns
Historical perspective: I grew up in a small town in Idaho -- which was definitely not the right place for me. In high school I was active in debate and ran a case on creating jobs and environmental benefits through recycling. I've been volunteering/working on environmental issues ever sense.
This building, a Lifecycle Building Challenge winner, can be popped apart, moved, and reassembled in new locations.

Hi Timonie (great name)...looking forward to getting to know you & sharing. As a relatively newbie here-- I'm at the "read & absorb" stage ...as soon as I get a feel for the dialogue I'll be making splashing noises as I jump into this great ocean of cultural creatives, I'll definitely tune in to your network.

Hi Timonie,
Thanks for adding me in your network!
I look forward to talk to you about green building. At the moment, among other things, I'm trying to change my school - and make it green: "Smarter CTIG". Hope you can help me!
Regards,
Willian. |

HI Timonie- welcome to the Hero Generation site - we just set it up recently with the aim of collaboratively developing the best slide show on sustainability we can possibly pull together. The site is there for people to add ideas and I guess we are specifically after key messages and information relating to sustainability - so please feel free to throw your thoughts into the ring. We want a tool that is easily understood and easy for anyone to access given the great need to rapidly advance the broader communities understanding our current pickle and the thinking and practice we need to best address it. Very best wishes John |

Hi Timonie,
could you tell me more about the building above? I am interested in sustainable buildings and particularly sustainable sanitation.
