About
I practice Japanese Massage (Amma) as my profession. I studied Anthropology in school; which is where I first learned that hunter-gatherer cultures around the world only spend 10-12 hours per week to provide for all of their needs ( food, clothing, shelter, medicine). This revelation made me stop short and ask why we in the modern world are running around like recently decapitated chickens most spending in excess of 70 hours trying to get our needs met. I also wondered why we began this industrial revolution given that we have spent 98% of human history as hunter-gatherers. I questioned whther our current way of life was ultimately sustainable. These questions led inexorably to my discovery and study of Permaculture. I have been studying herbal medicine & natural building techniques since my teens, but Permaculture was able to lump all of my diverse interests under one umbrellla term. I look forward to doing my small partt o help humanity survive the next 100 years and beyond.
