About
I am a graduate of The University of British Columbia with a B.Sc. in Geology and I am currently working towards completing a Masters in Strategic Leadership towards Sustainability at Blekinge Institute of Technology in Karlskrona, Sweden.
I have worked in the mining industry; both in the field and corporate settings, making me comfortable in boots/ jeans or high heels. My mining experience includes working for Homestake Mining in Northern British Columbia, Miramar Mining and Dundee Precious Metals in Nunavut, and most recently, for Viceroy Exploration on a project based in Argentina. I initiated an environmentally biased sustainability proposal for Dundee Precious Metals Back River project which spurred my desire to seek higher education within the sustainability field.
In 2000, I took time out to teach and travel in Mexico for 1 year where I acquired beginner Spanish, street smarts, a love of hot foods, and the ability to talk in front of groups without trembling. I yearn to return and complete my Spanish Language training....some day!
Upon completion of the Strategic Leadership Towards Sustainability Master’s degree, I have plans to move to Perth, Australia to continue my education in sustainability, working with an engineering company (Hatch) as a Sustainable Development Project Leader.
I also plan on learning how to grow the perfect tomato in my home garden, become a better surfer, and continuing my bike-riding lifestyle from Sweden.
