About

About Sunrise Center:

Since 1976, Sunrise Center has been offering  classes and events dedicated to inspiring greater compassion and love among people, greater caring for planet Earth, and an expanded connection to all of Life. We also offer for rental a lovely 600 sq. ft. space for your own meetings, classes, seminars and events.

Sunrise Center has expanded its sustainable living programs to include classes on permaculture and organic farming on the beautiful island of Maui. We are currently leasing three beautiful properties that are being farmed under the direction of Hale Akua Garden Farm. Hale Akua Gardens, as it is known for short, is well-known in the neighborhood for its classes in organic farming.

Our primary areas of focus are:

Teaching Compassionate Communication, based upon our understanding of Dr. Marshall Rosenberg's extraordinary model, Nonviolent Communication™, a language of peace and compassion.

Contemporary Environmental Concerns:
We offer presentations, classes and community events to celebrate and discuss  environmental issues and planetary concerns, with a current emphasis on global warming.

Lori Grace, Owner and Founder of the Sunrise Center and Scott Catamas, two of our Core Team Teachers, recently were trained by Al Gore and his Climate Project team in Nashville. Lori and Scott now offer Climate Project Presentations at Conferences, Conventions, Fairs, High Schools & Colleges.  Sunrise Center is dedicated to helping people understand global warming, its implications for us all, what we can do to slow it down, and how to have fun and save money in doing so.

Health and Wellness:
We offer lectures and classes focusing on healthy aging and rejuvenation, using nutraceuticals, bioidentical hormones, and healthy lifestyle strategies.

We also lead spiritually inspired nature hikes on select Bay Area trails with a focus on deepening our spiritual connection with nature and our sense of community with one another.

Certified Organic Farm:
Hale Akua Garden Farm, together with Sunrise Center, is expanding the scope of organic farming classes available on Maui. In conjunction with Hale Akua Garden Farm, Sunrise Center will be offering a variety of afternoon, one-day and weekend programs in organic farming. We are also contemplating offering a week-long course later in 2008.  Come and stay for a "Learning Vacation" on Maui.

Social Consciousness, with a current emphasis on fair elections and electronic voting concerns.  We offer presentations and discussions in select areas of social issues.

Sunrise Center Facility is for rent and provides a lovely, affordable, meeting space — daytime, evenings, and weekends, for your own meetings, classes, workshops, and lectures.
