About

I previously researched energy economics, technology, and policy for the Natural Capital Institute while helping to build the WiserEarth platform.

In addition to energy, I've also studied math, philosophy, and art here and here.

I'm a locavore (and vegetarian), which means that I attempt to eat organic food sourced from within 250 miles. That doesn't mean that I oppose globalization, only that the greater the distance between cooperating parties, the greater the tendency toward information asymmetry. As such, I'm exploring the economics of urban agriculture.

I'm currently working with The Ecological Design Institute, where I am a board member.

Lawrence,

Your an interesting one. It seems you tend toward the pragmatic side of life. You are at Berkely? I study Urban Ecology, or what will be Urban Ecology at Mizzou in Columbia Mo. Gen Ed, Geography GIS, Economics, and Public Policy, 34 years old, own Mid Missouri Home Energy Services, and I am working on state legislative policy focusing on incentivising and financing Energy Efficiency. My photo is from the Solar Decathlon in DC 07' and I don't feel that we are entirely ready for the technology. It is like putting the cart before the horse. A very expensive cart. Do you think we can get ready and shift to a sustainable energy paradigm within the course of our lives. Much will change in that time and I would like to stay in touch. Cont. the discussion. I'm familiar with Art Rosenfeld. and I got you page through Sym Van der Ryn's page because I tought I should thank him for the work he did as Cali's state Arch. under J Brown, as well as for what he did with Peter Calthorp back when I was learning how to SK8. What do you do @ Berkely. Obviously I'm interested in energy as well.

Regards,

Paul "Brad"ley McConnell
