About

I am the Director of the National Coalition for Dialogue & Deliberation (NCDD), which connects those who actively practice, promote, and study dialogue and deliberation. I have served as the Director of NCDD's four biennial national conferences, working in collaboration each time with dozens of people from across the spectrum of dialogic and deliberative practice to create unique, engaging events.

NCDD has become a vibrant network of over 1200 organizations and individuals who, collectively, regularly engage and mobilize thousands of people across the globe around today's critical issues, and NCDD's resource-rich website, at www.thataway.org, is a popular hub for dialogue and deliberation leaders.

In addition to my work with NCDD, I have consulted for such organizations as the Corporation for National Service, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Kettering Foundation in the areas of intergroup dialogue, public participation and deliberative democracy. I have an M.A. from the School for International Training.

If we can look upon our work not for self-benefit, but as a means to benefit society, we will be practicing appreciation and patience in our daily lives.

with love..

"Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about their religion; respect others in their views, and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life, beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and of service to your people. Prepare a noble death song for the day when you go over the great divide.
Always give a word or sign of salute when meeting or passing a stranger if in a lonely place. Show respect to all people, but grovel to none. When you arise in the morning, give thanks for the light, for your life and strength. Give thanks for your food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies in yourself.
When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home."

-Chief Tecumseh,

Shawnee Nation Statesman
