I speak as OurSelf, which is the Consciousness who each of one already is, i.e., the single feedback generating functionality of the single seamless Cosmos, which feedback generating functionality operates through myriad feedback-receiving vantage points located at temporary life forms, and which recognizes Oneself through more feedback-receiving vantage points located at temporary human life forms that have the additional functionalities of b) conceptual storage of feedback, c) conceptual processing of feedback into knowledge (inferences) and ideas (imagination), and d) symbolic communication of feedback, knowledge and ideas (language) to share Our feedback across more and more of our feedback vantage points; and d) the instrumentality of interacting and transforming the rest of the Cosmos into 'civilizational infrastructures'.
The greatest threats we face, both as the feedback functionality of the Cosmos, and more specifically as the feedback-based human instrumentality of the Cosmos - are some of these 'civilizational infrastructures' that threaten the delicate balance of the biosphere that is needed for the survival and wellbeing of the very life forms that give actuality to feedback functionality of the Cosmos, Ourself. Destructive 'civilizational infrastructures are the product of the widely prevalent false identity of Ourself as discrete, separate, and independent individuals facing personal annihilation or diminshment, by other humans, other groups of humans, or by the blind malevolence of Nature. This orients most of us defensively, acquisitively, and exploitively toward one another and toward the rest of Nature.
Regarding Ourself as discrete, separate, and independent individuals, we have also disorganized OurSelf into sub-identity groups that are based on race, color, gender, age, religion, nationality, community, political ideology, caste, class, etc. These identity-based groups regard other groups as threats to their wellbeing or survival, and are poised in opposition to one another, preferably to annihilate the other, if not to subjugate them - in order to maintain the integrity of the identity of one's own group. These individuals and groups also interact destructively with the rest of the local Cosmos (the planet Earth), driving vast numbers of species into extinction, and altering climatic processes to upset the delicate balances of climate and the biosphere.
The single step that can have the greatest impact on reversing our current destructive trajectory - is to revise this false identity of OurSelf as discrete, separate and independent individuals - to our true identity as the connected, integrated and interdependent multividual (a single social or Cosmic entity operating via multiple points) manifestation of the feedback generating functionality of the Cosmos. This revision will dissolve the false boundaries of our discreteness, separateness, and independence, and with it, put an end to our defensiveness, acquisitiveness, and exploitiveness vis a vis others and with the rest of Nature. This revision will make us instead, regard one another as different facets of the selfsame Ourself, and regard Nature as our common body.
