well I'll be damned, it is that guy.  Hows life in the Hop?  I hear the new crew is super lame. I'm sorry I can't be there to prop up the overall awesomeness levels. The world needs me to be enjoying the best burritos ever in SF, and I got to go where I am needed most, sort of like Jesus I guess you could say.

Hows my goat scrotum, Dave told me that people are asking about it. Just remember to keep applying the Borax and in a year or two it should be ready to grace the shifter of your F-150. No need to thank me.

You going to Bioneers? Pretty bummed that I am going to miss the festivities, but I will be out of town.

The first name rings a bell, can't place the last name. Does he work for Real Goods?

Way cool though, great to see the word already spread.

Hope to see you here soon,

Nico

It's good to see that Greenwashed is finally getting a bit of the attention it deserves. Once I get a computer, I'll be back making sure that it's the best damn group out there. Keep it going for me till then.
Sm_avatar
I love em all... to a degree.

Please explain your expiriences with said food group. (yes burritos are now in their own group)

What they claim: Toyota's corporate website claims the company will “actively promote countermeasures to global warming, the most serious of the world's environmental issues.”

The truth is: Despite the fact that Toyota's own corporate website warns against the dangers of global warming—calling it “the most serious of the world's environmental issues”—two major auto trade associations of which Toyota is a member are suing to stop California's new law to reduce global warming pollution. Toyota says it recognizes the problem, but it doesn't want to be part of the solution.

At least 13 states are following California's lead in adopting standards that would reduce global warming pollution from new cars. Toyota's trade associations oppose them all.

What they claim: Toyota has spent millions of dollars on ads to position itself as a leader in cutting global warming pollution.

The truth is: Toyota says it has cut polluting emissions from its autos. What the company fails to say is that its fleet-wide global warming pollution is higher today than it was 20 years ago. And now it is attempting to block efforts to raise fuel economy standards that would cut more than 200 million metric tons of global warming pollution in 2020 alone.

I can’t understand why there has not been a serious boycott of China yet. It seems that everything they make is either toxic, environmentally disastrous, or abusive to the people who make it. What’s more, China is a brutal oppressive dictatorship (remember the tank man) that occupies a sovereign country (Tibet) and has designs on its neighbors (Taiwan).

YEA!!! China does make crap, way to go frank. I feel that this is a group I can easily get behind.

This is a place to share a little about yourself with the group, if you so desire. Use it as an open forum.

I would like to say that I have a deep distrust of corporations and now I have a deep distrust of the soap on the shelves at Whole Foods (thanks Dr. Bronner). I view this group as a place to expose what I consider to be grave injustices, and it goes beyond soap or my hatred for SUV hybrids. The corporate hijacking of the language of sustainability for their greedy schemes is intolerable! The fact that I have to second guess the very words that I at one time trusted to make my decisions is a bold affrontary to all that is just and right in the world.

Thanks for reading my rant, please share one of your own.

The peaking of global oil production is a major event, and as such it will lead to some major changes, lets talk about the opportunities to be had. While this looks like it will lead to a major recession, not all will fall. Now, there are the obvious investment possibilities such as solar (FSLR, SPWR), wind (VWS.CO, CWP.L), rail (BNI, CP, NSC, P.TO), cars (ZNN.V), etc. But lets really think outside the box on this one! If your interested please join the discussion.

The size of this support from BP to the UC seems like it is little more then a public relations campaign. I bet that double this amount will be spent on publicizing the support and project. This is little more then buying the UC's legitimacy for an advertising campaign.

I would be interested to look at energy availability. If for arguments sake we assume that we are right now at the peak of the petroleum age and that the energy available from oil will now recede down the other side of the bell curve, how much energy will have to come from alternative sources? And, at what rate will this energy have to come online to avoid shortage? Furthermore, how dependent is alternative energy on petroleum for such things as inputs? How much oil goes into a solar panel or a windmill? I know that the steel in the turbine is not mined with solar diggers.

Just an idea.

I agree that this should be data driven, argument and thesis is too open to debate.

I had a woman at bioneers inform me of Community media and how that was the area that she worked in and that we should add it to the areas of focus. Seems like a good idea to me.

Hey all, I added an interesting article about the Internet in Africa from the Economist, please check it out in the resources section. For those of you in Africa, it would be great if you could comment on this topic. What is it like for you to get on the internet, and what is the quality like once your there, especially as it pertains to using WiserEarth, I believe that WiserEarth is a bandwidth heavy site, do you find this to be true? Please share.

I recently tried the citrus flavor and was pleasantly surprised, it had a clean tangy sort of flavor I could slurp for days. I encourage all of you to give it a go if you have not already. Tasting is believing.
