About

Hello! I am a former Content and Community Manager for WiserEarth.  I am currently on the WiserEarth Advisory Council.

Currently I'm working p/t on online outreach for the Culture of Peace Initiative.  We help to promote, organize and document the International Day of Peace!

A list of things about me:

1.  I love avocados and would like to own an avocado farm one day.  It's one of the few things I'm absolutely sure about and 100% comfortable about publicizing to the world, which is why it is the first item on this list.

2.  I went through high school and much of college thinking I was going to be a lawyer.  I sometimes wish I had developed more of a backup plan.  But I wouldn't want to go back in time to try to change it, if it meant I would lose out on the experiences I've had and connections I've made in the past couple years drifting in and out of campaigns, volunteer opportunities and nonprofits... I followed my passion and I can't have regrets about that.

3.  I spent a year learning Arabic as a college sophomore so that I could get a job practicing and translating Arabic.  I think I've forgotten all of it.  I envisioned myself studying abroad to become fluent, working in an international NGO somewhere, and playing a translator role.  I eventually decided (with the help of my Mom), that it was too much too soon.  I would love to be fluent in Arabic and Mandarin Chinese one day, easier said than done, as I feel entrenched in the US!

4.  I'm planning to study multimedia / video production.

To be continued...

"I've grown impatient with the kind of debate we used to have about whether the optimists or the pessimists are right. Neither are right. There is too much bad news to justify complacency. There is too much good news to justify despair." - Donella Meadows

"Well, for one thing, the culture we have does not make people feel good about themselves. We're teaching the wrong things. And you have to be strong enough to say if the culture doesn't work, don't buy it. Create your own. Most people can't do it." - Morrie Schwartz

just as water cools both good and bad and washes away all impurity and dust, in the same way you should develop thoughts of love for friend and foe alike, and having reached perfection in love, you will attain enlightenment.

Dear friends of Michael

(and dear Michael thanks for letting me post this letter here).

I have always wanted and believed in the possibility of peace. Over the past few weeks, as I begun collecting and selecting data of peace initiatives between Palestine and Israel, I was deeply moved to see the radical extent of heart and mindset shift towards peace, through non violent conflict resolution acts in the region. The thought struck me - here is a direct proof that the reality of humanity is far greater than the reality of the situation; that peace, here, is not only possible but inevitable... and, that if this is so here, it must be true everywhere.

There is now less than a month to the International Day of Peace, 21 September 2009. If you hold peace dear in hope, I would like to invite you to sign your name on the Peace Day Wall (below the image), and if you wish, please pledge your intent for the day in support.

I most sincerely hope to see you there

Many thanks and kindest regards

Hi Michael,

We are also in the Bay Area and obviously share some common thoughts. CPI was one of the first groups we joined on WiserEarth and I'm glad to see so much happening.  Keep up the good work!

Not sure if you are the person to direct this to.  In the section where we pick our interests, under Health, the listing is "alternative" health.  I suggest this be changed to Complimentary Medicine, since the mainstream medical system is actually the "alternative" one, with traditional approaches having been the "first" medicine.  Also, when posting to my profile, when I hit "save", it posted a whole section of "gobbledy-gook" text, which I had to revisit and edit to get a "clean" posting.  If you are not the web editor for this, could you kindly pass on to the right person?

I'm also wondering: is there a way to post an employment enquiry in the "jobs" section? can I set my "alerts" to notify me when jobs are posted in my field?  Thank you SO MUCH for your time and assistance.

Thank you Michael for the news of the HOME film on Phil's page...

Michael, could you load it on my org page so that all my friends could find out about it? Please?

I bought the first sound track - thanks to Phil's news of it in the UK group - with the female Mongolian singer and have been listening to it on a loop ever since...

Thanks

Thanks, Michael, for inviting me to join your network.  I applaud all that you are doing for peace and nonviolence, global governance, etc.   And I like what the jackofspades said below.  Are you familiar with www.empowertheun.org?  Well worth a look.  I've been representing PTP on their board for quite some time.  I look forward to being in touch with you over time, and hope we'll meet face to face in the not-too-distant future.  You have become such an integral part of the work of PTP and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for that.

Michael, Thanks for extending an invitation to join your network.  We have a lot of interests in common,  especially around health, politics and anti-nukes.  The emerging environmental myth that nuclear power is somehow "clean" because it produces less greenhouse gas than coal is an end run around the no-more nukes opposition.   I've read that from extraction to "final" storage a nuclear power station is as greenhouse gassy as a natural gas fueled plant.  We have to be careful not to be fooled by global warming "solutions" that actually create more problems, such as increased radiation and expensive subsidies of nuclear power.

Hey all.  Watch this vid..then think about volunteering with me in Ohio (even if its just for a few days) or please consider donating!

Why is Ohio so important?

  • Since 1860, no Republican has ever won the White House without Ohio.
  • Polls here show a statistical dead heat.
  • Al Gore had double digit leads in October
  • Kerry led in Ohio exit polls
  • Despite what the polls say, many votes on Election Day may not be cast because of voter purges, voter intimidation and other election tampering..

Hay Michael,

I haven’t been that to active as of late out here on wiserearth but I did want to stop by and say hello. I have all but sealed the deal at Argosy University for their willingness to support and sponsor my ideas and help me through the dissertation process starting with the Masters in Science and Management the MSM and then the Educational Doctorate the EDD program where they will assist me through responsible guidance in the first real framing of the Field of Planetary Development in its inception phase. From there I will begin installing the very first entry level course called simply Planetary Development 101 as an elective across the entire university system. Argosy University is fully aware of what I want to do and at this time they are willing to support my bid for the creation and instillation of the Field of Planetary Development across our world.

Michael I wanted you and wiserearth to know where things stand with Planetary Development at this time. We will see how it goes.

Say hi to everyone.

Regards,

Randy

Dear Michael:

Thank you for inviting me onto this site.  As it turns out, I signed up for it last May, and left a message, to which there were but few replies.  I recall none.

Your re-invitation encouraged me to update my personal page on this site with news about my free web samizdat, LEARNERS: On the Move from WeaponWorld to PeaceWorld.  Please consult, should you be interested.

I am a solitary, shy and bookish autodidact, and so do not participate in these kinds of forums the way you do (so enthusiastically, by the long list of groups that you subscribe to) and the way I should to make my work better known.  I guess I need an extrovert publicist, or many of them, to pull me out of my shell.

It was a rare pleasure to hear your expression of interest.  I tend not to participate spontaneously and in general, preferring to engage in personal dialogues on topics of particular interest.  A great fault of mine, no doubt.  Speaking in general, I wouldn't know where to begin, beyond a bare-bones invitation to review my work and get back to me.  My obsessive hobby horse does not allow me much more leeway, and this work eats up most of my free time.

Should you or your friends have any points of interest concerning LEARNERS you would care to discuss, I would be delighted to hear back from you.

Thanks again for your hospitable invitation.  It was a breath of fresh air in my otherwise stuffy, dry and close-confined existence.

Dear Michael!

Please, help me spread this message!

“SOS! Rescue Georgia!

In August 7, 2008 Russia attacked Sovereign Caucasus State-Georgia.
Georgia is 250 times smaller than Russia.

Russia conducted airstrikes on Georgian targets on Friday evening. The air raid from Russia bombs all territory of Georgia, from East to West.
Russia had started to bomb civil and economic infrastructure.
Russian aircraft raided Tbilisi (bombardment). Several Russian aircrafts were stroked down.

Thousands of people perished. Perished civilians, children and women.
Towns and settlements are ravaged.
Population lost homes, lost properties.
For now more than 3,000 people are dead as a result of aggression!

The escalation risked igniting a renewed and sustained conflict in the Caucasus region, an important conduit for the flow of oil from the Caspian Sea to world markets and an area where conflict has flared for years along Russia’s borders, most recently in Chechnya.

This is the Russian full-scale direct aggression!

Population is homeless, they have no simple belongings, food.

The humanitarian and ecological catastrophe is imminent!

Should one small nation be destroyed only because it is small?!

Help us!

We need humanitarian aid. We accept any support and aid: from any financial, to any material.
Thank you.

Please, contact me on e-mail: ibip@mail.com , as this mail ibip@land.ru has some problems.
