About
Introduction: Hello. I am Barbara W. McKinley, a naturalized American citizen, born in Britain at the end of WWII. I have actively pursued personal and spiritual growth for the past 35years, and am deeply concerned about the healing of our home, planet earth. I am currently a certified guide and a mentor guide for Gateway to Conscious Evolution, having guided land and phone groups for the past four years. I am recently retired, and until that time, made my living as a basic sciences administrator at Baylor College of Medicine. I describe myself as a political liberal and I live with a political conservative, so my tolerance for differences is broad (and constantly challenged!).
My passion to create is: My passion is to express and apply my courage, fervor and love of this world through facilitating evolutionary groups, studying methods that are universal in their application and being a conduit for opportunities and inspirational information in order to bring about a world in which the sacredness of living is universally accepted and we've created a victimless society of harmony and plenty.
What I need now to support me in fulfilling my passion: To 'become the change I want to see in the world,' I need to stay in touch with others on this path. I seek strong models and constant 'practice.' My associations in Gateway and in Unity provide me with these models. My Core Groups challenge, stretch and inspire me.
The resource(s) I have to offer others: I am a natural organizer and group facilitator. Intense and multi-talented, I can work alone as well as in groups. I feel deep satisfaction in keeping people in touch with each other through distributing information, spiritual messages and humor via email.
Additional information about my life and work: Singing, dancing, traveling and just plain old playing bring me joy. I really like to have fun with my partner, Pete, and all my wonderful friends. I sing in the Unity Houston choir. My background includes Life Training(The Kairos Foundation), The Peace Project, Beyond War and many other short and long-term associations with people dedicated to creating a better world. I'm currently a member of The Peace Alliance, working for a cabinet level Department of Peace.

Ere You Lie Down to Sleep
Ere you lie down to sleep in the night, sit still awhile, and nurse again to life your gentler self.
Forget the restless, noisy spirit of the day, and encourage to speech the soft voices within you that timidly whisper of the peace of the quiet night; and occasionally look out at the quiet stars.
The night will soothe you like a tender mother, folding you against her soft bosom, and hiding you from the harm of the world.
Though denied and rejected by men in the light of day, the night will not reject you and in the still of her soft shadows you are free.
After the day's struggle there is no freedom like unfettered thoughts, no sound like the music of silence.
And though behind you lies a road of dust and heat and discouragement, and before you the challenge and uncertainty of untried paths, in this brief hour you are master of all highways, and the universe nestles in your soul.
~ Max Ehrmann (1872-1945)
