About

I'm an art graduate and retail refugee trying to start a new career doing something that's actually meaningful.

This year I've been doing volunteer work propagating native Australian plants, and boning up on organic gardening and permaculture design.

Hopefully I'll be spending a year or two in Japan through the JET Program starting in June 2010.  Until then, my aim is to meet more people doing good things, and plan for where I can best fit in and help out once I get back from Japan.

My interests and pet issues are varied, but they all pretty much boil down to freedom and independence, whether it's freedom from oppression, freedom from pollution, freedom from hunger, or just freedom from the status quo.  And as a kid who grew up on video games, I get quite frustrated when the rules of life aren't as fair or simple or transparent.

No one is truly free who is still attached to material things, or to places, or to people. We

must be able to use things when we need them and then relinquish them without regret

when they have outlived their usefulness. We must be able to appreciate and enjoy the

places where we tarry, and yet pass on without anguish when we are called elsewhere.

We must be able to live in loving association with people without feeling that we posses

them and must run their lives. Anything that you strive to hold captive will hold you

captive, and if you desire freedom you must give freedom.

With love...
