Our High Summer Camp location is a forty acre parcel at an elevation of about 6300ft in the Klamath MT's of northern California. Part of the property includes a Fen bog. The Fen is classified as a Darlingtonia Bog and high in Serpentine soils. The Pitcher plant (Darlingtonia Californica) or Cobra plant is a carnivorous insect eating plant that is prolific on the edges of the wet areas of the bog.
The fen is under constant attack from off road vehicles including ATV's. We are looking at a long range project for restoration of the fen, maintaining excellent water quality and rich bio diversity. We hope to put together a management plan where much of the restoration will be accomplished as part of our outdoor wilderness course studies.
We are looking for someone who may be interested in making this part of their Masters or Doctorate project in Restoration Ecology, or Hydrology Engineering.
If you are interested in speaking to us about this project, please contact us.
