Habib's Garden

Connecting People to Weave a Better World

It is with great sadness that we report the death of Steve Habib Rose.  A number of us met this evening and thought that this group would be a fitting tribute. Lets use this group to recognize, honor and appreciate the many gifts and blessings he bestowed on so many of us. Please add yourself and your reflections.

About

Greetings!

I am in Snohomish, Washington and very interested in hearing what others are doing in their areas. I believe that if we share our ideas, successes and what isn't working, openly, we can help eachother figure out how to create change more rapidly.

The groups I am with are:
SONGCROFT. I am the director of SongCroft School's Self-Sufficiency Apprenticeship Program. We also have an educational newsletter that helps people gain or polish practical skills.

The Foundation for Sustainable Community which is an educational non-profit based in Snohomish County. We have a variety of different activities going on. We are the umbrella group for Green Everett and the home of the Snohomish Permaculture Guild. You can look at the website and calendar to get a feel for what we are up to. www.communitysustainable.org

Northwest Earth Institute which offers discussion courses on topics from Menu for the Future to Healthy Children-Healthy Planet. The courses are free to participate in and are complete with course books and mentors to help start them out. Check out our offerings at www.nwei.org

Snohomish County Master Gardeners.

SongCroft Garden Design which specializes in edible gardens. I have volunteered on CSA's, grown my families food and recieved my permaculture designers certificate through the Bullock's a few years back. I have been putting it to good use creating change, one backyard at a time!

“I once had a sparrow alight upon my shoulder for a moment, while I was hoeing in a village garden, and I felt that I was more distinguished by that circumstance that I should have been by any epaulet I could have worn.”

- Henry David Thoreau (1817-1862)
