About
Partner of STUDIO 1032, Linda Keane collaborates with diverse communities in identity tuning, idea generation, visualization, place making, and design education. As architects, artists, and filmmakers, STUDIO 1032 combines an architectural practice with animation and academic publishing for general public awareness of the importance of design of the environment. Keane’s public projects are socially constructed landscapes rooted in nature with artistic, environmental, educational, and entertaining intentions.
Keane pioneers using the internet, video, and film media to communicate design ideas. Involved with building curriculum for new graduate programs at SAIC, Keane created www.NEXT.cc, a not for profit kid’s art + design + environment web dialogued adventure promoting stewardship of the environment for use in US Green Charter Schools, WI Charter Schools, and select Chicago Schools starting Fall 2007. Keane also directed the City of Chicago’s Green Roof site (http://www.artic.edu/webspaces/greeninitiatives/greenroofs/) which is visibly changing the impact of green policies on the city landscape. STUDIO 1032 contributed a 'greened' State of Wisconsin Office Building- adding Green Roofs, passive Street Front Solarium featuring local green Institutions and businesses, geo thermal heating and cooling, and new flexible workspace, as one of eight Milwaukee architectural firms envisioning the future of MacArthur Square. She is also a contributing environmental urban planner to the North East Side Milwaukee Plan and active in smart growth conservation communities in the Chicago-Milwaukee Corridor.
STUDIO 1032’s films about architecture shown internationally at film festivals, conferences, in galleries, museums, and on public television are included in the Metropolitan Museum of Art/ J. Paul Getty Program for Art on Film, Architecture On Screen, A+A Architecturanimacion, and ARCHITECTURE: An Interactive Introduction. Keane’s work has been supported and recognized by the ACSA, AIA, AIC, NEA, NAIE, PBS and the Graham Foundation.
