Connecting People to Weave a Better World

It is with great sadness that we report the death of Steve Habib Rose.  A number of us met this evening and thought that this group would be a fitting tribute. Lets use this group to recognize, honor and appreciate the many gifts and blessings he bestowed on so many of us. Please add yourself and your reflections.

About

Hello,

My name is Linda and I am currently enrolled in the Environmental Advocacy and Organization Program at Antioch University in New Hampshire. What prompted my return to school after many years in the workforce was the idea of promoting organizational leadership throughout all areas of our lives. My direct motivation came when I was fired after confronting the president on unethical practices, and I decided that I want others to have a voice in their lives where they feel impotent and undervalued.

Moreover, I have always worked (on a volunteer basis) for basic human rights for all. In choosing this program, I am one of the many who believe that just one person can make a huge impact on this world. The direction I will be taking upon graduation can vary, but it is critically important that I empower people so that each one of us is equipped with both the ability and understanding that is required to be change agents in this world. I would like to reach the greatest number of individuals so that the message can live on and expand globally.

We certainly live in interesting times. As a young social activist, I lived a life filled with anger at the injustice I saw. Having grown spiritually over the past couple of decades, I know that in order to really make an impact, there must be a level of connection with those who are seemingly against us. I believe that has been missing. I choose to understand our differences rather than be angered by them. I believe we are all part of an interconnected web of life, and I am optimistic that we are coming to understand that we can no longer operate from a business as usual standpoint. There is still concern about the direction we are heading, but I know that this course can be corrected.

"You must be the change I want to see in the world." --Zen saying. I wish to be just that, and to invite as many others to stand beside me in this great adventure of creating a just, loving and sustainable world.

Namaste,
Linda Malik
