About

I live in the Bay Area in  Northern California, and have recently retired from work at NASA (on several missions, including Hubble Space Telescope) to work in the  non-profit sector using architect Christopher Alexander's tool called "pattern language" to model non-profits in order to facilitate their collaboration and evolution.  I became familiar with pattern language when I taught observational techniques in a college of architecture at the start of my career.  I am also on the Board of Seaflow, an organization dedicated to reducing noise in the oceans due to Navy sonar, oil and gas exploration, and ever-increasing shipping noise.  I have attended the last two Bioneer gatherings here in Marin, and hope to present at the next one in 2008.  I am also part of a group which is starting up "Project Homeless Connect" in Marin County to address the needs of the homeless here more directly.
I would like to connect with anyone who is interested in using pattern language or a similar tool to allow environmental and social justice organizations to work together more coherently, more consciously, and more effectively toward their common goals.
