About
I am a mother and visionary activist. I have spent my life pioneering solutions for sustainability from a personal to global level.
I have a degree in regional planning, and focus on cross-sector collaboration for holistic community sustainability. My senior project included a zoning ordinance for ecovillages which are currently not allowed based on conventional rural zoning, but offer one of the key solutions for re-localization. I also designed a transportation system that would increase mobility while eliminating most negative impacts associated with transportation. I have a holistic approach to planning in which I consider the human element (psychology/culture/economics) and approach solutions based on what people value/want/need and design how to meet those needs while creating a positive net impact on the planet/world.
I am certified in permaculture design, and a lot of those design principles inform both my work and how I live my life. In general, I operate from a perspective of interconnectedness and rather than approaching life as a linear/isolated process, I integrate and collaborate for the greatest mutual benefit possible.
I am focused on developing and spreading models for community development that are beyond sustainable—creating reciprocal benefits for maximum prosperity for all. My work is informed by the awareness that we can create what we want by focusing on it, and by reframing challenges as opportunities for progress.
I'm in the early stages of developing a company called Convenient Truths which generates and spreads solutions for sustainable progress. I have begun consulting with businesses and organizations offering solutions to help them design their strategic development and increase their exposure. I am also developing programs in-house to help businesses and individuals transition to a more sustainable way of living.
My main focuses right now:
- Implementing a simulation of the "GoLocal Rewards" program at Harmony Festival 6/12-14 read more at www.GoLocal.coop
- Coordinating outreach for the 10th Continental Bioregional Congress at the Farm in TN 10/3-11/09 read more at www.Bioregional-Congress.org
- Facilitating dancing freedom, a shamanic dance practice that supports people to embody their intentions for personal to planetary healing read more at www.DancingFreedom.com
- Identifying an ongoing staff position, ideally within a college or university to support students in being the change
I am always interested in building new partnerships. I am currently working on getting funding for the programs that I am developing, and I am interested in expanding my work to other communities throughout the world.

I am interested in learning more about your transportation system. I love to help publicize best practices and real solutions to our traffic mess. My own background in transportation alternatives goes back to the 70's when I began lobbying for bicycle safety improvements and encouragement. (At that time I thought bike paths were a viable option. While still a good choice for certain situations, I'm more focused on sharing the road education, I designed a bike route/share the road sign in 1982. Still the best one out there as far as I can tell.) I lobbied for the first state and local recognized Bicycle Day and Bike to Work Week in 1981, served on a state bicycle and pedestrian safety committe and chaired a county board. Now I'm more pedestrian and vehicle safety oriented. I'm trying to bring an electric motor assisted SafetyCycle! to reality. Right now it's in the pipecleanerdream stage. Anyways, I'd love to be part of your network. |

"All my
life, I thought of love as some kind of voluntary enslavement. Well,
that's a lie: freedom only exists when love is present. The person who
gives him or herself wholly, the person who feels freest, is the person
who loves most wholeheartedly. And the person who love wholeheartedly
feels free."

Hello There,
Good to hear from you. Hope you and Finn are doing well, looks like you are involved in a lot of interesting projects up north. I've been pretty busy trying to complete my Gaia outputs before i depart for the Middle East and Europe in late August. I plan to finish my masters abroad there. The output I am working on right now is about eco / social businesses in the LA area, and for my last output, a portfolio of like minded plans. I dont know if you will make it down to Santa Barbara this weekend for the workshop, but it was nice seeing you when you came to LA. Keep in touch and tread lovingly. |
