Lawrence M. Jacobson Mr. Jacobson has almost thirty years of healthcare experience, twelve as a
behavioral health provider and manager and sixteen as a delivery service
manager and healthcare consultant. Mr. Jacobson has built managed care networks in California and Washington and was an NCQA administrative surveyor. He served as Senior Contract Administrator for a large and successful California HMO, Contracting
Director for a 150 WA physician group and has advised numerous hospitals and
physician groups in negotiating their payor agreements and network
development efforts. He is the founder, in 1995, of the successful healthcare consulting business called Healthcare In Partnership, LLC. He has worked to facilitate a task force for the purpose of improving the integration of complementary and alternative health disciplines with conventional allopathic medicine in Washington State. Mr. Jacobson has worked for many years to bring purchasers, providers, and consumers together to address the complex problems we face in providing cost effective health care delivery on the West Coast. He sees a new model for balancing quality of care and service with efficiency as one with much promise to address the current crisis in health care...He continues to pursue his interests in health promotion and personal responsibility. Mr. Jacobson has been active in local progressive politics for twelve years. He has worked closely with two congressional races and numerous progressive organizations including the Sierra Club, Washington Ceasefire, and Earthjustice. He continues to lobby for healthcare reform in Olympia and Washington, DC. Mr. Jacobson has had a twenty year interest in the spiritual dimensions of health and wellness. He has had the good fortune to work with a number of pioneers in the field of mind-body health including Jon Kabat-Zinn, Joan Borysenko, and Ilana Rubenfeld. He has also studied Integral Transformative Practice and meditation with George Leonard and Michael Murphy, as well as Buddhism retreats with Ram Dass and Lama Surya Das. His goal is to increase the participation and responsibility of consumers as they learn more about taking control of their health decisions and their personal practice of healthier lifestyles.
