About
I am a recent college graduate and all I know about the future is that I want to do my best to make it as green, just, and resilient as possible, for as many as possible. To that end I am currenlty interning at a number of non-profits in the East San Francisco Bay Area in the areas of international REDD (reducing emissions from deforestation policy), food and international development policy, and relocalization of agricultural and energy systems. I am currently taking courses in Urban Agroecology at a local community college (Merritt), as well as a course on beekeeping at the Green Gulch Zen Center and Farm. My degree (BA, Harvard 2009) is in the Comparative Study of Religion with a focus on Buddhism and the application of religious ethics in environmental and social movements, however I also studied Spanish, Portuguese, political science, and environmental science and public policy. I enjoy learning about all religions, history, the environment (from more of a policy and economic perspective though I love learning about agroecology and biology, especially tropical rainforests/cloudforests!). My three Rs are readin', writin', and ramblin', and I've been to 15 countries so far including a 4 month exchange with the Universidad de la Habana, 3 months as an intern with Instituto Socio-Ambiental in São Paulo, and around 8 months total in Nicaragua. I practice ashtanga yoga (have done some anusara and would like to experiment with other traditions!), dabble in tai chi, play capoeira, and live for the outdoors (primarily backpacking). If you share any of these interests, please add me to your network so we can save the world together!
