About
I am currently attending Utah State University, studying psychology with a focus on modifying behavior. I've recently begun a dog training business based on the behavior
modification principles I'm learning. The business is still small and
my time spent with it is limited, as my schooling is currently more
important to me. However, I plan to make animal training a part of the rest of my life.
I've always been interested in animals and nature, as I had wonderful parents who raised me to respect and care for Mother Earth. However, I am frustrated at how many people I encounter whose culture has raised them to have no respect for nature and, in fact, to think nothing of it nor think critically about what's happening to it. Only recently has my interest begun to lean toward social justice, as well, as I began to realize how ridiculous the prison system is in the U.S. I am very interested in the idea of helping peoples in developing nations gain a livelihood by the giving of (and training with) livestock. Voluntary simplicity is also a huge interest of mine, and I am determined to continue to decrease the complexity of my life brought on by "stuff." I'm also very interested in education - I feel these messages are important not only for the global well-being, but for individual well-being. I'm certain that people would be happier and healthier if they were to pay attention to and get involved in nature and the environment, voluntary simplicity, the serving of others and sacrificing of self (money, time), and a focus toward the good of others rather than the pleasing of self. I hope to become a mother and raise a new generation who loves and cares for people and nature.
