About

Hours of discussions with a friend in highschool got me thinking about the wider world. Since then started the journey to discover what is actually happening around me. When I've learned to look deeper into the culture surrounding us I couldn't go back.

While studying biotechnology I've done a certificate from Baltic University on sustainability and was busy in the student union and helped translate materials for the first Polish Fair Trade organizations. Enjoying the knowledge and understanding I got from learning about what constitutes life and how it functions I've disliked the idea of working in the lab and probably having a 90% percent chance of being employed by a corporation to develop cosmetics or patented drugs which they could profit from.

Following on my volunteering episodes with people with diverse needs abroad I've decided to move to a new country and work and support people. Here I've liked my job and decided to skill up and started a social work degree course. Here I got more and more interested in systems thinking and am currently working on a dissertation to marry sys think with social work and the wider world affaris (at least in my head).

In the meantime I've been discovering more and more organizations (recently I've counted around 120 different newsletter I've been receiving) and being a person who likes to find connections between seemingly disparate things I've felt that there is something brewing in the seemingly apathetic society.

Working in my own locality with Transition Westcliff, discovering diverse community groups, organizations and individuals showed me the richness of community life. Reading the books Blessed Unrest and Cultural Creatives confirmed my feelings that something is brewing in society.

Nowadays I'm lucky that I've got a supportive partner who is a Cultural Creative and who understands what this is all about. The movement of movements is out there and I'm joining in to catalyze the transition.

My WiserEarth Committment

I'll spend an hour a week to input local - Southend-on-Sea groups into WiserEarth to facilitate them joining the movement of movements and so they can use WE tools to support their work.

Yes, not definitive - there are plenty more switches for faster progress with particular issues. The 7 were selected for their potential across issues. Another fun thing about complex systems is how the same patterns are found at different scales. So there is a nice opportunity to use local work to show what's possible on a bigger scale (and also what's not possible without bigger change). Enthusiasts like you are the catalysts for helping this all happen in time so keep up your splendid work!

I can see the 7 policy switches could fit here and there and guide those Transitioners who want to commit to work on bigger scale. I don't know if this is the definitive answer but that's the fun with complex systems:)

Thanks for the hard work and keep sharing your work with me.

Bravo Kamil!

Glad you saw the 7 policy switches work. You can read it also as a trail of clues for individual transition projects to add to, rather than distract from, the potential for a mega systemic change.

Hello there, I've got the group going now. Southend on Sea in Transition:) and 2 people signed up already.

I would like to spend an hour a week to map the organizaitions in my town and give them their groups on WE to facilitate their development - such is my fascination with this website and people populating it.

All the best to you to.

Welcome to wiserearth and thank you, Kamil, for inviting me.

I would love to hear news of your town and whether you have had any noticeable effect...

You know you could easily crate a group page here for your town...?

All the best

Narda
