About

I'm a land use and environmental lawyer and planner with my own practice in Rocklin, California, Joel Ellinwood, AICP Lawyer-Planner. My firm's mission is to help clients create a more just and sustainable future.  For more about me and my practice, see http://www.lawyer-planner.com.

There has never been a more challenging and exciting time in human history to be involved with land use and environmental issues.  Never has so much of the population been so aware of and concerned about the issues that I get to work on daily. I try to connect with my like-mined colleagues who are in similar and related professions in real estate, development and government through my participation in the Real Property and Environmental Law Sections of the Calfornia State Bar, and the Land Use Subsection; the California Chapter of the American Planning Association and the Sacramento Valley Section, the Sacramento District Council of the Urban Land Institute and the U.S. Green Building Council, its Northern Calfiornia Chapter and Sacramento Branch.

I see.WIser Earth as a way to expand my network and source of inspiration beyond my immediate professional circles.  I learned of it by someone being kind enough to forward the transcript of Paul Hawken's moving commencement address from Portland University.  His words capture the excitement and sense of energy I feel as I reach out and make contact with more people and the diversity of perspectives they bring to the task of healing and saving the earth from ourselves.
