About
I believe that it is time to move from majority-rule democracy governance structures to consent-based sociocratic governance, in which NO voice is ignored, in which NO people are disenfranchised. and in which the combined wisdom of ALL people guides planetary evolution. We don't have to change or rebel against the powers-that-be; we just need to step aside; build a new more highly informed and evolved communications/governance structure that is firmly rooted in the values of love, peace, justice, and sustainability.
I am working already with a group of people who have very much the same mission as Wiser Earth, though with the addition of what I consider to be the enabling element of dynamic self-governance (sometimes called sociocracy) which offers the promise of an actual structure and system for how to implement all the good we envision. I have been surprised not to find any talk about this on the Wiser Earth site... I did find one other person mentioning it in his profile of interests and I'll be in touch J.T.! And I'll be getting in on some of the WE discussions related to governance and global networking.
Please visit http://nextsteptogether.net/ to find out more about sociocracy and what we're trying to spearhead. And if anyone has found my profile through searching for any of those terms, please leave a comment here and let's move forward together in this promising direction.
Oh yeah, other stuff, I am a computer teacher at a private K-8 school. I have lived in the woods of the northern California Sierras, near the small hamlet of Dutch Flat, since 1980, and it's a small-footprint cabin lifestyle out here for sure, in an extraordianarily beautiful environment--perched on the rim of the great canyon of the North Fk of the American River. 3 of my 4 kids were born right at home but they are grown and mostly on their own now, ranging in age from 27 down to 16. My first career was as a photographer, and that's another thing I teach sometimes. As my family has grown up and dispersed I'm branching out more too, picking up old threads of relationships and social activism I left hanging during my primarily home-making, career-building years.
Lately my NST friends have introduced me to ecstatic dance which I am enjoying a lot when I get a chance. I am very happily vegetarian. I don't wear any makeup or scents and have no use for razors or bras either ; ) I always have some kind of creative craft or art project going... I make pine needle baskets, get into oil painting in spurts, make rag rugs from worn out clothes, and am currently learning the basics of ceramic sculpture in a great workshop class at a nearby community college. I'm also taking a UNIX programming class online--quite interesting. And I maintain websites for several organizations.
Cheers all,
Gay

A native American grandfather was talking to his grandson about how he felt. He said 'I feel as if I have two wolves fighting in my heart. One wolf is the vengeful, angry, violent one. The other wolf is the loving, compassionate one.' The grandson asked him, 'Which wolf will win the fight in your heart?' The grandfather answered: 'The one I feed.'
