I am Agricultural Engineer and PhD in Biology, coming to
these studies from being a naturalist since I was 10 (watching mainly birds,
cetaceans, amphibians, reptiles and flowers). In the course of these studies, I
made my three thesis about antarctic crustaceans. This allowed me to
participate in 4 antarctic expeditions (+ 2 on Lake
Baikal in Siberia
), which further fueled my environmental concerns. I went back during the
Antarctic summer 2006-07 as a media officer of an international expedition
studying the effects of Climate Change on the sea floor life in the Peninsula.
Since my PhD, I have
been working as scientific officer at the International Polar Foundation (IPF),
where I am responsible for the scientific validation of all communication and
education contents we do produce. The IPF acts as "a bridge between
science and society" in the fields of polar sciences and climate change,
and by studying climate change on a day to day basis have strengthened my will
to work on solutions.
Having two sons (8 and 10) is another strong motivation !
Beside my work, when time allows it, I am still an enthusiast naturalist
and have extended my scope to edible wild and domesticated plants, growing orchids
and cactae, as well as to the so-called “ambassador dolphins”.
I also became a "Biomimicry afficionado" through a seminar at
Schumacher's College in September 2003. After two more in 2005 and 2006, I
launched together with Raphaël Stevens the non-profit "Biomimicry Europa"
as a European Biomimicry platform in December 2006. Since April 2007, I work part time for
our European Biomimicry initiative, with a whole bunch of old and new friends at various level of engagement.
Finally I wanted to add that each time I'm getting in harsh time for any reason, I listen again to Paul Hawken's speech and connect again: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1fiubmOqH4
