About

Franziska Seel, 27, is Executive Director of the Global Youth Action Network (GYAN), and also serves as Associate Director of TakingITGlobal (TIG).

 

Franziska strongly believes in young people, and in the power of collaboration and networking.

 

Before joining the leadership teams of GYAN and TIG, she was involved in various youth groups promoting and strengthening youth participation in decision-making and working on youth development projects. In 2001, she was a delegate of the German National Youth Council to the United Nations World Youth Forum in Dakar, Senegal and from 2003-2005 an active member of the World Summit on the Information Society Youth Caucus. In 2005, Franziska worked as Youth Editor for the United Nations Millennium Campaign and coordinated TakingITGlobal’s Millennium Development Goals program.

 

Franziska holds an M.A. in Sociology, Political Science and Chinese Studies. Her master thesis focused on analyzing the causes of youth unemployment in OECD countries.
