About

I grew up on Orcas Island and I feel lucky and priviledged to still call it home today.   I have lived in other places, cities and rural, and in other countries, but no place has ever felt as much like home as Orcas.

I have an undergraduate degree in anthropology and most of a master's degree in geography.   I worked as an instructor for the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) for six years, and I've been a kayak guide, sailing instructor, boat captain, furniture craftsman, logger and sawyer.    From 2003 to 2008 I managed and operated Rainshadow Solar, a full-service renewable energy systems installation contracting business operating throughout San Juan County.

I am currently starting a new company, Island Energy Systems, that will be a retail solar electric systems integrator and online supplier of complete off-grid and grid-tied system packages.   www.islandenergysystems.com
