About

Deborah Lindsay began her career in radio in 2006 and is a national public speaker on Climate Change, Peak Oil and Community Solutions. As the co-founder of Sustainable Monterey County, she has lead thousands of citizens to build local and regional networks for self sufficiency, and independence from fossil fuels. Her radio program, Tomorrow Matters - "Talk radio for a Better Tomorrow" airs weekdays from 2 to 3 pm on KRXA 540 AM based out of Sand City, CA. and is available live from the KRXA website at www.krxa540.com. Through Deborah's efforts, KRXA became the first Green Certified Radio Station in the Central Coast region through the Monterey Bay Green Business Certification Program.

She began her career in media in 1990 working for a large music event production business based in Santa Cruz, California. Clientele included the San Jose Jazz Festival, The Mountain Winery, and The Robert Mandovi Music Series. In 1999 she opened her own production company, Power Bundle Productions, a womens theatre troupe raising money and awareness for Defensa de la Mujer. Deborah went green after receiving her degree in Culture, Ecology and Sustainability from New College of California, with a major in Mass Media. She has a certificate in Event Management from the University of California, San Diego. .

Deborah Lindsay is also a Sustainability Coach encouraging communications and community action for a sustainable future. Her talks, which she offers nationwide, focus on Sustainable Living and Personal Powering Down. Climate Change and Fossil Fuel Decline are no longer a topic for academia; but for all of us that have families and regular lives and want to approach this situation in a managed way. Deborah also teaches city councils and community members that we must take immediate action, and she shows us how! Deborah organizes and facilitates community discussion groups that explore solutions and foster leadership while promoting public awareness of lowering our Ecological Footprints . In all her events Deborah stresses, “Personal Powering Down” and how individuals can make a world of difference.

Born and raised in Ottawa, Canada, Deborah moved to the Monterey Bay area in the late 80's. While raising her two daughters, Deborah explored the importance of community to the human experience, and humanity's relationship to the natural environment.

While studying at New College in Santa Rosa she began studying with Richard Heinberg, author of The Party’s Over, Oil, War and the Fate of Industrial Societies, and Power Down, Options and Actions for a Post-Carbon World, an experience that would bring focus to her many-faceted life history and illuminate the purpose she had spent so much of her life seeking.

A natural leader, Deborah recognized that her gift for communication and consultation and an inclination toward public speaking would allow her to make the greatest contribution towards a sustainable future for family, community, and the generations that will follow. In her words, "There is no other work to be done; only drastically lowering our fossil fuel usage and changing the end of the Human Story. The survival of the race depends on how we collectively proceed."

It is one of the first days of Spring, and I sit once more in the old garden
where I hear no faintest echo of the obscene rumbling of London streets
which are yet so little away. Here the only movement I am conscious of
is that of the trees shooting forth their first sprays of bright green, and
of the tulips expanding the radiant beauty of their flaming globes, and the
only sound I hear is the blackbird's song -- the liquid softly gurgling notes
that seem to well up spontaneously from an infinite joy, an infinite peace,
at the heart of nature and bring a message not from some remote Heaven
of the Sky or Future, but the Heaven that is Here, beneath our feet, even
beneath the exquisite texture of our own skins, the joy, the peace, at
the Heart of the Mystery which is Man. For man alone can hear the
Revelation that lies in the blackbird's song.
