In 2006, it was a trip to Africa that changed my perception
of travel and environmental conservation. I traveled with 40 women to East
Africa to participate in the Grassroots Women’s Conference in Kenya,
coordinated with Global Partners for Development. Two weeks in Kenya and Tanzania still
resonate deep in my heart. Seeing
the vast, open beauty in Africa ignited a new awareness to respect and
support our planet. I hope to travel throughout the world as much as
possible, but with a commitment to travel responsibly, contributing to and
supporting each destination she visits.
As an advocate for ecotourism I volunteer with my community’s
environmental organizations to contribute to local efforts of eco-awareness and
conservation.
In 2007 I created the concept for my website, www.EcoTravelConnections.com
to enlighten and encourage people about traveling in an “eco friendly”
way. My blog, “Ramblin’ On” presents
my complete portfolio of writing: articles and stories promoting eco travel to
the Napa Valley Wine Country, California and the U.S., and other essays.
I am also a member of the blog team on ResponsibleTravelNews.com,
a website that disseminates news and issues concerning ecotourism. As the American correspondent my purpose is
to raise awareness for people to enjoy what their own local environments have
to offer; also highlighting destinations, activities and information so that
eco travelers can find and match their values of responsible travel with their travel and leisure excursions.
