My name is Alicia Jimenez, I am Costa Rican, and work at the Earth Charter Center of Education for Sustainable Development, located in Costa Rica, on the University for Peace campus.
I am a biologist from the University of Costa Rica, but decided to change a little bit my focus during my post-graduate studies, and focused on conservation and development aspects. My Masters was on Resource Development, at Michigan State University. After my studies, I became a researcher and professor at the National University of Costa Rica, and then, came across with the Earth Charter. Fell in love with it, and now I have the pleasure to work in its office in Costa Rica. Now, my energy is focused on understanding and finding ways to reorient formal education systems to incorporate education for sustainability, so, children, youth and adults can grasp the meaning of what is sustainability, what does it mean to think in an integrated way and to put into practice sustainability in our daily lives.
I would love to get in touch with people with similar passions and that would like to work in collaboration with others to change the unsustainable culture and patterns of production that we're facing now.
All the best for all of you,
Alicia
