About

Currently I am an Indigenous Conservation Projects Specialist at The Nature Conservancy (*), an environmental organization, based in USA, with an office in Belém (Pará State, Brazilian Amazon), where I live.

I am a graduate of Economics (PUC-SP) and Social Sciences (USP) and I have a Masters Degree in "Economic Development, Space and Environment" from Economics Institute (UNICAMP).

I began my researchs and works with the indigenous people and the rubbertappers from Acre State (Chico Mendes´ State), since 1994.

My Master of Degree was focused on a study of a technical innovation in an extractive based economy: the so
called "vegetable leather" (cotton covered of latex) in the first Extractivist Reserve of Brazil, the Upper Juruá Extractivist Reserve, Acre. It aim to study economical, social and environmental indicators of the vegetable leather production. This three-dimensional approach was driven through the combination of a research of the productive process and of the forest management from a development and conservation perspective (sustainable development) combined with a etnographic description of the rubber plantations (seringais). It was intended to contribute to the discussion of the economical viability of non-timber forest products, its contribution for the development of the forest populations inhabitants and for the conservation of the environment where they live.
I am currently focused on indigenous trainning for environmental projects management, ethnodevelopment and ethnoconservation issues with local indigenous communities in Roraima, Amapá and Acre States.
