About

Non-consumptive use means that the resource is not removed - multiple people can use the same resource (for example, birdwatching). These threats typically do not permanently destroy habitat except perhaps in extremely severe manifestations. Includes Recreational Activities, War, Civil Unrest and Military Exercises, and Work and Other Activities as sub-categories.

This category is part of a standard classification of ‘Direct threats to biodiversity’ edited by the World Conservation Union (IUCN) and in use by all major biodiversity conservation organizations such as The Nature Conservancy, Birdlife International, Wildlife Conservation Society, and World Wildlife Fund.
