Problem  [Edit]

OUR CURRENT POWER GENERATION SYSTEM USES AN UNSUSTAINABLE MODEL, THAT HAS LED MANKIND INTO THE WRONG PATH

The world needs more electricity in the next 30 years. The US will grow its capacity, but China and India who are currently under supplied, are carrying a very rapid aggressive expansion policy to generate more than they currently produce. Current supply models are centralized, generate electricity using very large plants from multiple sources of energy, both non-renewable and renewable. Investments to build a Power Generating plant, even a small plant are in the hundreds of millions of USD, and could reach up to 5 Billion USD for a Nuclear one Gigawatt (GW) plants .

The electricity supply model the world knows and uses is centralized because it uses a very large Power Generators that produce electricity for thousands of consumers, delivers its electricity using transmission lines that will occupy 3% of the land, and which these transmission lines pollute and provide visual contamination. The required investments for the Centralized Power Generation Model has created nations that have electricity, and those that do not have it. It is the Power generation capability that each nation has installed that has created Developed and underdeveloped nations. It is the level of well being of the people in any given country that has made them civilized  or savages, peaceful and progressive or victims/poor and resentful, seeking to get even with the world, even by embracing  radical positions.

The centralized model was initially built on burning fossil fuels, then Nuclear, and lately, with a smaller participation are the renewable energy sources like: thermal, tidal, wind, hydro, and solar. All fossil fuels and nuclear will hurt the planet,  Pundits from these energy source: favor, advertise and lobby towards expanding their energy source. There statements range from "Coal is now clean coal" to confuse people, and "Nuclear plants are beneficial because they are non-gas emitting, and "radioactive waste is under control".

Thus, it is time to correct the Power Generating model. Fossil fuels and nuclear are undesirable and unsustainable energy sources, which need to be substituted by everlasting energy sources like solar and wind.  Nonetheless, the Energy producers with invested interest will place a great deal of pressure on the US government to expand their hold, and obstruct and derail the other energy sources.

Action  [Edit]

A DISTRIBUTED POWER GENERATION SYSTEM WOULD CORRECT THE PATH OF MANKIND AND ESTABLISH A MORE EQUITABLE WORLD ORDER

Having a stand alone, small electrical power generators based on Solar energy for the home, business, and light weigh industry would provide everyone, all over the world, the possibility of having modern living comforts and power tools to produce goods and services, that create well being. The small stand alone power generator would allow people in Asia, Africa, Latin America to install small Power distribution equipment without the need of central electrical grids. Governments of poor nations would no longer need millions of US dollars to built Power generation plants, nor do they need loans to build these plants. The land that would be used for power transmission lines in the centralized power generation model would no longer be required since everyone generates the electricity where they consume it.

This power generators for the home, based on solar energy, would improve people's standard of living and advance their production capabilities. A small power generator would allow the poor people to produce their own, without the need of receiving handouts. They would regain their self respect. It is with there hard work and the appropriate power tools that they will work on their trade and produce whatever it is that provide their livelihood.

However, we still need to integrate the technology that facilitates the Distributed Power Generation Model.  The Solar panels or film, barely works and it is extremely expensive. Maybe some day, this passive solar energy can be used for homes, but right now only affluent societies ca afford it..

Investors and governments need to provide grants and research money to redesign the use of the Stirling engine, which would be used to activate the 2.5 to 3.0 KWh power generator, conforming the solar powered appliance that generates electricity.  In essence, the proposed solar appliance has the following components: A Heat Solar collector for the roof using a fiber glass collector, the stirling engine, the power generator, and a battery bank and energy storage to provide AC current 24/7. This appliance should be less than 5,000 USD and can be produced simply and efficiently, in a similiar maner as to the way an Air conditioning units are produced. Basically, the four major components can be outsourced, and the euipment is integrated in the country where it will be employed.

This truly small equipment has the potential of changing the world, allwoing each and every individual to generate the energy they need,. Clean energy, harnessed from the sun, would reduce the pressure to create more large contaminating plants. It could provide China and India a way to grow without having to produce their share of Green House Gases or Radioactive waste.

Please note any specific results, preferably tangible and measurable, that people implementing this solution have achieved. References to specific case studies would be helpful.

E.g. "The Soldar Collective sold 10,000 fuel efficient stoves in the village of Soldar in Kondar, India resulting in a 60% decline in fuel wood collection as measured by an independent auditor. More details can be found by clicking here."

Limitations  [Edit]

BE WEARY OF UTILITY OPERATORS AND INVESTORS WITH VESTED INTEREST IN THE CENTRALIZED POWER GENERATING MODEL , FOR THEY WILL OBSTACLE AND DISTORT THE DISTRIBUTED POWER GENERATION TECHNOLOGY FOR AS LONG AS THEY CAN

There are other Utility companies which have diversified their energy source, like Florida Power and Light. These companies will most likely include in their 10 year forecast plan, expansion into solar and wind. However, their investment in these technology for the time being is very small from their projected expansion. When you research the wind and solar projects they will invest, you will see their multi million dollar investments are towards the centralized power generation model Large wind to electric, solar to heat/steam electric. In other words, these companies will not develop equipment for the home power generation markets.

We need entrepreneurs with no vested interest in the current utility companies to invest in this distributed power generation equipment.
