Problem: Until recently, small wind technologies and devices were not available for small rural and homestead electricity-generating applications.

Action: SWEEP --- Small Wind Environmental Energy Project We are gathering founding members and crew for this small wind renewable energy development project on five rural acres of the Mendocino coast. This project is in early-stage development of visioning, prototyping and organizing those wishing to explore small wind renewable energy, rural wind farming techniques and flying wind turbines.

Problem: While the benefits of environmental services are public goods, the cost of ensuring their provision often falls on local land managers. As land is usually managed for private benefit, it is generally more attractive for land managers to convert their land to alternative uses such as agriculture rather than maintain it in its natural state. This is particularly the case for poor, marginal land owners and users and there is a need for an equitable for reducing poverty and conserving nature.
