About  [Edit]

edibleSLO

The local food movement is a large and growing movement that includes such diverse issues as hunger, water, obesity, health, food waste, land, governmental policies, and environmental issues (pesticides, GMOs, drought, various unsustainable practices, etc.). It also includes what we grow and how it is delivered to us. EdibleSLO is up to the task of reporting the stories that deal with creating a local and secure food system, working with our struggling farmers, encouraging people to shop locally and at the farmers markets, highlighting Farm to Table enterprises, Farm to School campaigns, Slow Food Organizations as well as Food Not Lawn groups. We are covering farmers, urban gardeners, chefs who care about our own local resources and restaurants who are making a serious intention to move more toward a sustainable food system. And we ought not forget about us, the consumers who make decisions daily with our dollars and how that affects our local economy as well as our health.
