About [Edit]
MMWD hosted a Conservation Summit, "Conserving Together," in July 2009. The Summit focused on the importance of water conservation as a cornerstone of the district's long-term water management strategy.
The Summit featured a presentation* on MMWD's current conservation efforts, highlighting its goals through 2025 and how the district currently measures up in meeting these goals. It also included an overview of longer-term program objectives.
A panel discussion featuring Chris Brown, Executive Director of the California Urban Water Conservation Council, Bill Maddaus and Michelle Maddaus, leading conservation analysts in California, and Dan Carney, MMWD Conservation Program Manager, focused on a question central to the Summit: "How Far Can We Go?"
Summit attendees had the opportunity to participate in one of seven breakout groups on the following topics: Conservation Behaviors and Motivating Change, Lawns and Landscaping, Gray Water, Rainwater Catchment, Paying for Conservation: Financial Strategies, Long-Term Conservation Planning, and What’s New in Water Legislation?
The Maddaus team recently released an extensive water conservation report, which explores opportunities for taking the District beyond the ambitious conservation program established in 2007.
