About  [Edit]

Med_ann_pettifor_bw
In this facsinating 5-minute video, Ann Pettifor talks about the way in which the industrial countries of the global north are running up a ballooning legacy of ecological debt. While this is being addressed by some policy makers, Pettifor argues that orthodox economics do not provide adequate solutions. The central problem, in her view, is that control over credit and money supply has been wrested from Governments and handed over to the market. Equity and democracy is about transparency and accountability. Financial markets lack both. She closes by suggesting that local sourcing could contribute to a solution.
