The Treaty on Environmental Education for Sustainable Societies and Global Responsibility was adopted at the conclusion of the International NGO Forum / '92 Global Forum held from June 1-14, 1992 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the parallel NGO event to the 1992 Earth Summit, This treaty is one of forty-six NGO Alternative Treaties adopted at the Forum and intended to serve as the basis for a people's alternative to Agenda 21.
