This paper summarizes research done by Bob Stilger, Co-President of The Berkana Institute.  Stilger looks at the lives of seven people who were called to create learning centers in different parts of the world.  He looks for the patterns in their lives that allowed them to step forward with a new kind of leadership which Stilger labels as enspirited and which leads to community action that is appreciatve and emergent.
