On October 26th and 27th, 2006, The George Washington University Center for the Study of Globalization, the Department of Microbiology, Immunology, & Tropical Medicine, and the UN Millennium Project hosted a high-profile conference on the neglected tropical diseases (NTDs). Entitled Rapid Impact: Integrating the Neglected Tropical Diseases with Malaria and HIV/AIDS Control, the conference adressed new opportunities for the elimination and control of the NTDs as well as opportunities to link the control of the NTDs with the control of malaria and HIV/AIDS.
