About  [Edit]

This database is a comprehensive record of over 47,000 uses of some 3700 species of plants by over 100 native American groups in America north of the Rio Grande. About half the records are of medicinal plants; the remainder are classified as foods, dyes, fibers, and others.  The sources utilized were very carefully selected as genuinely primary sources.  The online database is also available in print as Native American Ethnobotany (Timber Press, Portland OR. 1998).
