About [Edit]
ENO-Environment Online is a global virtual school and network for sustainable development and environmental awareness. Four environmental themes are studied within a school year on a weekly basis. About 400 schools from 104 countries take part.
The ENO programme has been running since 2000. It is coordinated by Pataluoto School and administrated by the dep of education in the city of Joensuu, Finland. ENO has received funding from the National Board Of Education and municipalities in the Joensuu region.
We value collaborative learning and shared resources. Our website and materials are available for everybody!
Our logo is a kite. It symbolizes challenges in learning as well as freedom and equality in learning, despite boundaries. ENO makes us one, through our environment.
Themes
The school year is divided into four different environmental themes. These main themes have sub-themes that vary annually. Each theme lasts from 10 to 12 weeks. After the introduction week, learners collect information about topics in their local communities through different online and offline activities. At the end of each theme there is a campaign week during which learners share the results in their local communities and summaries can be found on the website.

This Is Our Culture
Cultural sustainability is an important part of sustainable development. People need to know about their cultures and preserve them for future generations. In this theme, we want learners to respect their cultures and to be aware of cultures around the world. Within this theme we have studied, for instance, traditonal music, food and dances.
