This blog and  a related website www.divineprimates.com, present the idea that humans will continue to be unable to control our trends towards global disaster unless we can develop species awareness.  That is, as long as we believe we are unlimited in our brilliance and achievements, as virtually divine beings, we will continue to be completely self-absorbed and incapable of the kinds of mindful discipline required to alter the dysfunctional aspects of our popular culture.  When we understand that we are primates, with so many of the attributes of our cousins, we will be better able to accept the limites of our rational side and cultivate social institutions to encourage us to work towards our highest interests.  Failure to do this is likely to result in catastrohpes that will lead to authoritarian responses and facilitate greater suffering.  The better choice is to create solutions that incorporate understanding of human nature in addition to "scientific" principles.
