A tool for developing and applying the science of agroforestry to problems of natural resources conservation and sustainable agricultural development, this book examines the environmental and social conditions that affect the roles and performance of trees in field- and forest-based agricultural production systems. It provides an analysis of various types of ecological settings for agroforestry within temperate and tropical regions. This book provides a better understanding of strategies for sustainably growing and maintaining commercial tree species, relying less on agrochemical input and mechanical intervention, while still maintaining acceptable levels of profitability.
