About [Edit]
To commemorate World Peace Day on Sept 21, KIS student
council representatives greeted arriving parents and students with blue
peace ribbons and this was followed by peace themed activities in the
classrooms. During the afternoon, four Grade 5 students recited poems
through the louspeaker which could be heard in all the classrooms and
the school's commom areas. School wide singing of the peace song We
Are One and a one minute of silence followed. It was a meaningful
day, promoting awareness for the need for non violence and a more
unified global community to our students. The poem below was written
by Grade 5 student Jun.
The Scale of Peace and War
There was once was scale of peace and war
where people chose their side.
One civilian on peace, and four soldiers on war.
And the civillian just sighed...
"I'd rather see the flowers bloom,
instead of them burned down."
A soldier went to the peace side
and didn't turn around.
"How dare you kill the children when
they're innocently playing?"
A soldier went to the peace side.
He went there and was saying...
"Why did you destroy the house?
It's really beautiful there!"
A soldier went to the peace side
When he arrived he swore..
"I'm going to really think of peace
and really think its true."
The soldier on the other side
He felt nothing, only blue.
"Today I will kill no more.
My heart just feels sore."
He left his hatred side of war
and nobody is there any more.
Everyone on the peace side said,
"The sweet like never before,
Its great like roses, the petals of flowers,
the flower blooms we adore."
So now the five will all spread peace,
make darkness turn to light.
"I think you might have already learnt,
that peace is always right!"
