About  [Edit]

HOME is a spectacular film by Yann Arthus Bertrand that came about with the support and commitment of an amazing international and diverse team and of a large corporate group.

The free access movie in youtube is wordless... as they say it's a hymn for the planet, a people's project, a worldwide project. "It awakens in us the awareness that is needed to change the way we see the world". The end of the movie there is one word: TOGETHER.

This is an handsome piece or work about Life from a Tao perspective, and an aligns with Transition Towns approach to help people, organizations and community to realize sustainable projects through sustainable relationships between people and the environment. It aligns with Paul Hawken's commencement speech at University of Portland last month

did anyone find paul's speech on video? i came across it on the Transition CA Ning and used it to frame my DK GreenRoots diary on "Green Social Networking"

At the time of posting, the coding was not working well and so I was unable to provide the link to the entire speech.

It was a phenemonal talk!

Hi folks!

I concluded translating HOME into Brazilian Portuguese!

Here it's: http://dotsub.com/view/715220aa-5ebf-4344-b798-4ce68e40c6ad (with English subtitles too).

Kind regards,

Willian.

Just finished watching the film in it's entirety. Nothing new to me but my hope is this message can go beyond the ones in the KNOW...NOW.

I plan on posting and sharing it with everyone I meet.

Peace

this will be an incredible film for us to watch as part of our first community Transition Film Fest... For those who like this, be sure to check out the Turn Towards Life TV resource ... a lot of Joanna Macy (Sp) etc.  Great resource.

Finally! Watched it in full on my computer last night through this link. Simply wonderful, (I thank Phil for sending us all a link a few weeks ago)

Towards the end, I remembered I saw Yann's outdoor exhibition in London*, outside the Victoria and Albert Museum in 2001 or 02. What struck me most - apart from the giant size posters capturing extremly beautiful images of the earth and of humanity - was his unique way of placing beside them very alarming and relevant statistic info. This was long before Al Gor's film...

I bought 2 copies of HOME last Monday on Ebay for £16 each!!! ...and still didn't get them... I am looking forwards to watch it with friends on a large screen.

*"In 2000 his "Earth from Above" free exhibition was set up on numerous big posters on the gates of Jardins du Luxembourg in Paris. It then travelled worldwide from Lyon to Montreal, to 110 cities and was visited by 120 million people." Wikki

Wow.  I finally got to watch this film in its entirety.  It is absolutely beautiful, haunting, and meaningful.  It is time to begin moving our education system for children in the developed countries (USA!!) into this direction of awareness and meaning of our environment and each other.  This film is a wonderful tool for this type of change.

Celeste just tipped me off about the amazing 17 years old Willian's (wrosa92) simple plight regarding this movie at
http://wrosa92.wordpress.com/2009/06/16/message-to-yann-arthus-bertrand-luc-besson-and-francois-henri-pinault/

Anyone can help get Home into Portuguese and into Willian's hand?

Bruce, thanks so much for pointing us to this film/video. Not that it told me anything I was not aware of, but it shows us all so dramatically the conditions of our fellow humans on the planet. The aerial cinematography is spectacular and moving, providing us with perspectives we've never seen before. It should prove to be persuasive in ways that other presentations about our situation are not. And the narration by Glen Close is powerful in its restraint.

I'd love to see this on the big screen. It's like a Koyanisqaatsi for this new era.

Here is another movie distribution model

                 http://www.indiescreenings.net/

"Welcome to the future of film distribution.

Anyone is now able to buy a licence to screen The Age of Stupid  http://ageofstupid.net/ whenever and wherever they like - keeping the profits for themselves or their climate campaign. Well, whenever they like as long as it's after the launch date, May 22nd. Our cunning software will calculate the licence fee according to who you are, where you plan to screen, how many people will watch and various other factors."

This software will also be used for the film The End of the Line http://endoftheline.com/film and hopefully many more.

Anyone know if there's a video version of Paul's commencement address? Tried looking for it but found none... Thanks.

The speed at which humanity's collective impact is depleting the Earth's resources is made deeply evident by this film.  However, in the end there's room for some cautious optimism and inspiration.  This film provides an amazing bird's eye view of the planet and powerful narration... a must watch!  I definitely agree it aligns with Paul's amazing commencement speech.

"Buckminster Fuller said that spaceship earth was so ingeniously designed that no one has a clue that we are on one, flying through the universe at a million miles per hour, with no need for seatbelts, lots of room in coach, and really good food—but all that is changing..."

Both and more, as free as possible :)

But as it cost money, perhaps the download version (if there's any) should be coupled with "Pay What Its Worth to You" model, which I heard will be used for the upcoming In Transition movie by Transition Network. Internet connectivity gets cheaper around the world, but the USD does not. I'm guessing that'll help it spread to far away lands legally, and should help cover the costs. Or if they so will, go all the way to a Creative Commons license.
