About  [Edit]

Med_caroline_lucas_bw
In this important 6.5 minute video, Caroline Lucas explains how economic growth is largely driven by corporate globalization and how the global trading system has been designed to further the interests of the affluent nations at the expense of poorer nations. She talks about the need to challenge the economic status quo. Alternative economic models exist which promote fair trade and do not exacerbate environmental degradation. She talks about the re-localization of the global economy and the building of regional economies based on the ‘proximity principal'. Fairer, more regional trade would lower pollution by reducing transportation. It would also be of greater benefit to the global south.
