About  [Edit]

“1000Communities2” is a proposal advocating Community Visioning Initiatives,

“Community Teaching and Learning Centers” with ongoing workshops, and “sister community” relationships, as a way of generating an exponential increase in our collective capacity to overcome the challenges of our times.  This proposal includes over 150 excerpts and quotes from relevant sources, which are provided to demonstrate the need for problem solving on a scale most of us have never known before.  A special feature of this proposal is a 15 step outline (see p. 22-42) for a Community Visioning Initiative.  The goal of this proposal is to encourage others to create similar community-specific proposals for their communities, and to highlight the potential of this approach.

This resource was created by Stefan Pasti, and is available for free (as a pdf file) at the website of The Interfaith Peacebuilding and Community Revitalization (IPCR) Initiative (at www.ipcri.net).  Stefan Pasti is founder and outreach coordinator for The IPCR Initiative.

Additional Note:  A WiserEarth Group Site has been created for the purpose of discussing the “1000Communities2” proposal.   To facilitate discussion-- and as a way of focusing member contributions towards specific and constructive results-- 26 excerpts from the original 161 page proposal have been made into Wikipages for this group.  For more information, visit the “1000Communities2” Group Site at http://www.wiserearth.org/group/1000C2 and refer to the two discussion forum “stickies”.
